PAUL KENNETH MASI, AIA (1971-)
(pronounced mah-see)

Paul Masi received a BA in architecture from Catholic University and an MA in architecture from Harvard. After working for Richard Meier, he joined Harry Bates in 1997. Around 2012, they moved to an office building of their own design in East Hampton NY. Video. The firm has been honored with over 240 design awards including three Architectural Record Houses. In 2013, Bates Masi was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame and in 2017, the William S. Marvin Hall of Fame.


1997 - The Gary and Carol Scott Additions, 95 Old Farm Road, Sagaponack NY. Bruce Nagel was the residence architect, Masi designed the garage, deck, and cabana. Sold in 2021 to Keith and Lori Wolf.

2009 - The Joesph and Herbert Shalant House, aka Lion's Head, 92 Runnymede Drive, East Hampton NY. Replaced a family house that burned down in 2001. Overlooking Gardiner's Bay. Built by Karl Avallone. Won a 2010 AIA Long Island Award.

2010 - The Victor and Athena Calderone Renovation, aka Robins Way, 21 Robins Way, East Hampton NY. This was a complete renovation down to the studs of a 1960s kit house expanded to 2000 sf. 2011 - The Richard T. and Alicia Z. Scanlon Vacation House, aka Genius Loci, 61 Startop Drive, Montauk NY. Built by Davis Builders. Structural Engineer, Stephen L. Maresca. 2013 - The James and Christine Boyle House, aka Mothersill, 56 Pauls Lane, Water Mill NY. There was a 1962 Andrew Geller house and studio on the property when the Boyles bought it in 2010. The Geller house was turned into a guest house and the studio a pool house - and a new main house and pool was built. Built by Keith Romeo; structural Engineer, Stephen Maresca; interiors by Damon Liss. Won the 2013 AIA Peconic Award; 2013 Interior Design Best of the Year; 2013 AIA Long Island Award; 2014 AIA New York State Merit Award.
