WESTRIDGE ESTATES / WESTRIDGE PARK, CANOGA PARK CA
Designed with Dan Palmer. Beginning in 1957, George J. Heltzer & Associates began promoting the Westridge Estates and Westridge Park subdivisions as an affordable, upscale neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley. The developments, built between 1957 and 1959 on intermingled tracts, consisted primarily of single-story homes (homes designed by David Freedman were the exception) in the popular California ranch style with variations. Heltzer's firm designed the greater portion of the houses, with signature exaggerated gables and "gingerbread" molding. The contemporary ranch styles were designed by architects William Krisel and Dan Palmer, well known for their modernist/ranch developments Corbin Palms in Woodland Hills and the Living-Conditioned Homes in Northridge.
