Sold in 1886 to Norton & Co to be used as a warehouse. Sold in 1890 to Barrows Lock Co. who modified the stone structure and its surrounding structures and built a sizeable brick structure on the west side of the Italianate addition. Sold to Yale & Towne, who acquired Barrows Lock. Sold in 1945. It became a print shop, then later a plumbing shop. Sold in the early 80's to Gaylord Donnelley, George Gaylord's grandson, who rehabilitated the building. During the extensive renovation process, the Gaylord Lockport Company removed the 1906 brick addition over the original stone warehouse, as well as the other late nineteenth and twentieth century additions. The structure’s new look reflected its historic character at the time that George Gaylord owned the building. The Gaylord Lockport Company chose to “adaptively reuse” the building to accommodate contemporary needs. These included the Public Landing Restaurant, the Illinois State Museum Lockport Gallery, and the Illinois Department of Conservation Visitor’s Center. Since 1996 the building has been a historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation -- its only industrial building -- and a contributing property of the Lockport Historic District (National Register, 1975). Gaylord Donnelley received the President's Historic Preservation Award from Ronald Reagan in 1988. Still operating with exhibit galleries and the Public Landing Restaurant.

The Everett (Everette) Edgar Sentman Residence Addition, Lake Forest IL by Irving Colburn

Year Unknown - The Everett (Everette) Edgar Sentman Residence Addition, 905 East Illinois Road, Lake Forest IL. The address is confirmed from a 1965 directory: Who Is Who in Publishing gives Everett Edgar Sentman's permanent address as 905 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Sentman, born 1913, was editor-in-chief of United Educators, Inc. at Tangley Oaks Educational Center in Lake Bluff, one town north, and of The American Educator Encyclopedia; both spellings of his given name are contemporary. The commission cannot be dated - the Irving W. Colburn Papers finding aid, Ryerson & Burnham Archives, Art Institute of Chicago (accession 2002.10) holds only six black and white exterior photographs, filed as "Sentman Residence (#unknown)," with no job number, no date and no address, and nothing in the project papers series - but Colburn left Illinois for Massachusetts in 1973, which brackets it to about 1955-1973. Sold in 2021 for $2,300,000. The Colburn work does not survive: Lake County gives PIN 12-34-308-002 a year built of 1984 and an effective year built of 1984, whereas the county demonstrably carries split values where an older house was remodeled - on this same street, 425 reads 1903/1932, 443 reads 1875/1933, 990 reads 1910/1933 - so 1984 is a true construction year, not a remodel date. The present 5,412 square foot house is a Cape Cod and Tudor with a cedar shake roof and a curved staircase, with no modernist fabric. Destroyed.
