Old-House Journal was first published in 1973 in Brooklyn, New York by Clem Labine for fans of urban brownstones. Labine sold in 1987 to partner Patricia (Patty) Poore who eventually moved the office to Gloucester MA. She sold it to Hanley Wood but stayed on as editor. Hanley Wood sold it to Restore Media, with Poore staying on as editor. Restore Media sold it to AIM Media.
