Time Inc. originally published House & Home in 1952 as a monthly magazine for building industry.  It was sold to McGraw Hill in 1964 and was renamed Housing in 1978. In 1982, McGraw-Hill sold Housing to Hanley-Wood Inc. After the October 1982 issue, Housing merged with Builder.

In 1986, Lynda Reeves bought the title House and Home and started a new magazine in Canada, which continues today.
